lyrics
Carter, Henry, get your hands off me
Carter, Henry, get your hands off me
After all I’ve done for you, why won’t you let me be
Carter, Henry, get your hands off me
Cut me loose and see what I can do
Cut me loose and see what I can do
If you do this good thing for me, I’ll be so good to you
Cut me loose and see what I can do
I can see the clouds a’gatherin’
I know the mess you’re in
Now turn me loose, give me the tools
And let me do my thing
I’m an honest citizen
I ain’t out to hurt no one
But from time to time,
A good man finds there’s some killing to be done
I got fire and I’m gonna let it shine
I got fire and I’m gonna let it shine
If the city burns down to the ground, well that ain’t no fault of mine
I got fire and I’m gonna let it shine
I can see the clouds a’gatherin’
I know the mess you’re in
Now turn me loose, give me the tools
And let me do my thing
I’m an honest citizen
I ain’t out to hurt no one
But from time to time,
A good man finds there’s some killing to be done
I’m a loaded weapon, there ain’t no need to fear
I’m a loaded weapon, there ain’t no need to fear
If you don’t like the way I do, why the hell are you still here?
I’m a loaded weapon, there ain’t no need to fear
John Drumbo French from Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band worked with Thompson on two albums along with Fred Frith and Henry Kaiser.
Those two French, Frith, Kaiser and Thompson albums led me to this.
Also, Richard Thompson taught Hugh Cornwell (of The Stranglers) how to play the bass guitar in a band when they were both at the same school (Emil and The Detectives?).
With a career spanning 50 years and playing with two of my heroes (French and Cornwell) Thompson has produced a fascinating EP.
The raw and wiry sound of Oneida is perfectly captured on this NYC Taper recording with proceeds benefiting their recently injured drummer. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 22, 2018
"...an album that looks as much to this side of The Pond as the UK, She Makes War's debut album is a dark melange of 90s Riot Grrrl meets indie-pop meets disquieting ballads, all the time not missing a beat..."
