In my book, "I Choose This", I summed up the process of making my album Songs for the Road like this:
"A set of recordings that was supposed to have been completed entirely by myself at my own humble premises in one month, had eventually taken five months, in ten different studios, with four producers, five mix engineers, six different pianos and three drummers, and I have never had the nerve to ask how much money it cost to salvage nine listenable songs from all that bloody mess."
Well, after thirteen years I have revisited what remains of that bloody mess and lovingly finished three of the recordings that were rejected by my label. I have only used the parts that were in the original recording session.
Could this ever have been the foundation of a great record?
The catapult to global stardom?
Probably not.
But I feel at the very least that I can say it really wasn't that awful, right?
Sweet to the soul. This skillful, passionate set of songs causes the fluttering of wings along with the tranquilness of a heart at peace.
An album to learn from. lightsound77

"...an album that looks as much to this side of The Pond as the UK, She Makes War's debut album is a dark melange of 90s Riot Grrrl meets indie-pop meets disquieting ballads, all the time not missing a beat..."
